Universal Forum of Cultures Foundation
The Universal Forum of Cultures was born to promote citizen-based commitment to dialogue, creativity and common sense for a fair, humane, sustainable and peaceful development.
Barcelona, through the Universal Forum of Cultures Foundation, is responsible for spreading the Forum’s ideas and commitments, and for promoting future editions of the Forum event.

Who are we?
The Foundation was established by the organizers of the first Forum, to promote the Universal Forum of Cultures as a global event and to spread its values and outcomes.
It is a private foundation with international scope, constituted by the representatives of the Barcelona City Council, the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) and the Government of Spain, as well as every city having hosted a Forum.
The Forum Foundation is governed by its statutes. The Forum’s governance bodies are the Board of Trustees, the Delegate Commission and the Executive Direction.

What do we do?
The Foundation has its headquarters in Barcelona and is responsible for the following.
Regarding the organization of the Universal Forum of Cultures:
- To develop the Universal Forum of Cultures as a third generation of international events and as an arena for improving global coexistence
- To safeguard the brand and values of the Forum event, as well as the quality of the program and organisation
- To coordinate the selection process for candidate cities to host future Forum events.
- To support and follow up the organisation and programming of the Forums
- To foster the organisation of pre-Forum activities in coordination with the host city.
Regarding the Forum’s legacy,
- To promote the legacies, ideas and values that result from each Forum, with a special focus on the Millennium Development Goals
- To manage the United Nations Global Compact Barcelona Center
- To permanently organize Dialogues in Barcelona
- To organize the Peace Camp every year
- To publish the main ideas and best practices resulting from each Forum edition
