69 boys and girls from the cities of Amman, Barcelona, Dhaka, Dakar, Ho Chi Minh, Maputo, Monterrey, Naples, Rosario and Salvador de Bahía have taken part in this Camp.
At the InOut Hostel in Vallvidrera, the youngsters, aged 13 and 14, took part in dialogues, workshops, visits to the city, to its schools…
Following on the line set up in past Camps, the programme focused on human rights, sustainability, diversity, prevention of AIDS… all within the framework of the work done towards the Millennium Development Goals. In order to help introducing the issues to debate, the Camp counted on the visits of Mireia Belil (“Dialogue, ideas and conviviality”), Jaume Mateu – Tortell Poltrona (“Yes, we can do it”), Dani de Torres (“Everything moves”), Manuel Fuentes (“Communicating is informing”) and Tomàs Molina (“One planet, one humanity”).
The Camp also had workshops on construction of collective action through the body, sounds, and the voice, as well as on AIDS, resolution of conflicts, the media, and Reuse.
The boys and girls visited the city, Barcelona City Hall, two schools (Príncep de Viana in Sant Andreu and La Sedeta in Gràcia), FC Barcelona and the Centre d’Art Santa Mònica – MediaQuiosc. Further to this, former campers from Barcelona –participants from Peace Camps Barcelona 2009 and Valparaíso 2010- visited the Camp several times
At the closing ceremony, which took place on October 27th, the youngsters, after reading the Manifesto for Peace Camp 2011, offered to the Forum Foundation the Trunk with the legacy of the participating cities to this eighth Peace Camp.
This trunk will be opened in a special edition of the Camp that will take place in Forum Amman 2016 and will gather all former participants of the Camp, from its beginnings in Barcelona in 2004.
